SLAM\nCo-ed Tennis Tournament\n“Servin g Up For A Cure”\nHistory:\nPlease join us on July 11-12, 2009 to ce lebrate the life of Stephanie Ann Marshik and her love of tennis. Step hanie picked up a racket at a very young age, learning to play tennis with Little Falls Community Services Program and her neighborhood frie nds. She attended Gustavus Adolphus Tennis and Life Camps in the summe r as well as playing for the Jack Bowe Tennis Academy. When she was in 8th grade Stephanie earned a spot and began her dream of playing for the Little Falls Flyer’s High School Girls Varsity Tennis Team. Afte r High School, Stephanie continued to play college tennis as a Concord ia Cobber. Stephanie touched the lives of many people through tennis. She had a competitive spirit that really came to life on the tennis co urts. She was also a coach and mentor to many kids and adults that pla yed and loved the game.\n\nThe Cause:\nStephanie was diagnosed with br east cancer at 29 years old. She fought a hard battle and will always be remembered for her strength, integrity and heart. Stephanie passed away on September 12th, 2008 and is truly missed. This tournament is a way for all of us to pay tribute to an incredible person who touched so many of us and loved the sport of tennis.\n\nFunds Raised:\nThe fun ds that are raised through participants and donations will be set up i n a Foundation in Stephanie’s name. The funds will be donated back i n a number of different areas. Little Falls Community Services Youth T ennis Program, Breast Cancer Research, LF Relay for Life, a memorial a t Maple Island Park and a Scholarship to a High School Student with a strong interest in Tennis. The donations will be made depending upon t he funds raised in the event.\n\nThe Tournament:\nThe tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 11 and we will be utilizing all t he courts in Little Falls, so please be prepared with transportation. Your team will need to report to the Middle School Courts to register, registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. July 11. Everyone will be playin g at least 2 matches.\n\nThe cost per team is $40.00; this includes yo ur registration fee, breakfast, lunch and your 1st Annual S.A.M. SLAM t-shirt.\n\nThere will be 2 divisions; please sign up according to you r level of play. Teams must be 1 male and 1 female. (If you are unable to find a co-ed partner, we will accommodate teams with 2 males or 2 females). You must be at least 18 to play.\n\nEach team must supply 1 can of tennis balls for the tournament.\n\nFruit and water will be pro vided all day to participants and volunteers. Lunch is included in the registration fee and will be served from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Middle School Courts.\n\n**In case of rain, we will reschedule the tou rnament for August 15th-16th, 2009.
