Sitting here today, I smiled when I remembered an encounter my daughter and I had with Stephanie this summer. She was so strong, so positive. When I feel a little bit down, I remember her wonderful spirit. It makes me smile to remember what a wonderful person she was and how herl smile could light up my self-conscious daughter's face.
Alice and I were walking our dog. We walked past the Decker house. Everyone was on the front porch enjoying the weather. The kids were having a snack. Alice said hello to everyone. Stephanie commented to Alice that her hair was so long and had gotten so pretty. She told her she was really turning into a beautiful girl. She smiled at Alice. Alice said thank you and we continued our walk. We didn't want to intrude.
Alice was so happy to see Stephanie outside with her family. She told me that Stephanie always made her feel special. She loved the fact that Stephanie had commented on her hair and told her is was pretty. Stephanie had a way that instilled confidence in my not very confident young daughter. I will always remember and appreciate that about her.
Needless to say we miss her presence her in the neighborhood every day. However, rest assured we all feel her presence here every day. She touched all of us in some special way. The way she touched my daughter was priceless!
