I am a childhood friend of Steph's as many of us are. We all seem to share similar memories of Steph and it is fun to hear about them on this site. I will write about a few great memories I have...

Tennis - I am a tennis friend and team mate of Steph's...boy did we have some fun times growing up on the tennis court. From our crushes on the pro tennis players to the many trips to the high school for practice - we sure made the sport a fun one! We had so many fun bus trips and success stories over the years!! Too bad she and Betsy joined up for doubles our senior year because Karla and I were having a great season until they came along:) Playing at Silker's never got old either....we usually talked about boys while we played so that made it even more fun.

Music - Steph and I would tend to crank the "boom box" and sing along...we usually leaned towards Prince but sometimes would sing duets to the love ballads back in the day - we thought we were really good but I am sure Smil and others might not agree:) One song that ALWAYS reminds me of Steph is "Red, Red Wine". I always smile when I hear that song.

Wedding dance - This story is a classic. We were at the ballroom in LF for my sister's wedding...we were not quite 21 yet but there was a wonderful champagne fountain. Steph and Karla came to the dance but enjoyed that champagne a little too much. Halfway through the night they went to the bathroom.....I knew something was different when they returned but could not place it right away. I soon figured out that they SWITCHED DRESSES - boy was that hilarious. They of course thought it was funny as well....pretty brave when most of the guests were old high school teachers.

Sleepovers - I am not sure how many sleepovers I can count but Steph and I had a lot of them. As Greg mentioned - Sorry was the game of choice and we played it a lot! Smil was always the best host (great popcorn and snacks) and always a wonderful breakfast in the morning. Ann and Cathy were home a few times and probably thought we were pretty silly....but we had a ton of fun!

Steph and I lost touch over the years but she was one of those friends that you think about often and wish she was still in your life. She was beautiful inside and out and never judged you or others. It is a priviledge to call Steph a dear friend who helped make me the person I am today. Thanks Steph!

Hi Spilly,

Those are great memories, I still think the best are during Tennis on the van, you and that darn walkman- I think we should have called you Mariah Carey. Funny. God I miss her.

Karla, long time no talk. Great to hear from you!! I would love to play - is it going to be a fundraiser for Swing Fore The Cure? That would be cool. Anyway, keep me posted....my email is julie.whitworth@microsoft.com. Take care and keep in touch.
